the objective
Create a brand honoring Mezcal, a traditional Mexican drink, and in this way pay tribute to the ritual of drinking mezcal in one of the most iconic spaces in Mexico City: La Colonia Roma. The created brand must refer to the ancestral cultures that inhabited the region: the Teotihuacan culture and later the Aztec culture.
the solution
We conceptualized the idea of representing the element of fire on the brand and the space since the process of making the legendary mezcal has fire as its fundamental basis. With this, we developed the name Tlecan which means "place of fire" in Nahuatl (the language of the Aztecs).
The architecture of the place is inspired by the feeling transmitted when entering a pre-Hispanic tomb and by the modernist architecture of Mexico City. As part of the interiors we decided to pay a special tribute to the sculpture from the Mesoamerican Classic Period titled: Disc of Death for its simplicity and geometric sophistication. The piece was commissioned to Tezontle Estudio. — (A)
